PERFORMANCE COMPANIES

All Performance Companies are by audition only. We warmly invite dancers who are keen on elevating their performance experience and advancing their dance training to a higher level to audition for these esteemed performance companies. It is required that students auditioning are actively studying the specific style performed by the company they wish to audition for.

iRep

HIP HOP COMPANY • AGES 8.5+

iReP the Street & Club Dance Crew is dedicated to creating dance specific routines encompassing only styles created in the street and club dance community more famously known as Hip Hop. We also strive to give our members a safe and inclusive place to advance themselves while assessing the roles they will play in their communities and as a part of the street and club dance community and culture as a whole.

Participation in iReP is by audition only. Training: Participation in iRep is by audition only and requires a year-long commitment. Accepted students are required to take one weekly Hip Hop class in the school at Peridance in addition to attending weekly rehearsals. The required Hip Hip technique class placement will be specified by Cebo and School Coordinator. Technique classes are vital to a successful company experience. Please see the mandatory rehearsal schedule below. iReP will meet on Saturdays from 10:30-12pm Performing: iReP will perform choreography by Cebo at our School at Peridance shows with additional various performance opportunities including a performance at the Barclays Center and more to be announced throughout the year! About Cebo - Director of iRep Terry B.J. Carr, professionally known as Cebo has been a distinguished fixture in the street and club culture for more than 30 years. Cebo is president of New York's first street club dance companies, Next Generation NYC, LLC (NXGN) / Next Generation New York Studios. From event management to curriculum development, NXGN does it all when it comes to street and club culture. Cebo is also the movement specialist for GoNoodle's Blazer Fresh, a director of the MopTop Universal Program at Peridance Center and a member of the world-famous house dance originators Dance Fusion Crew NYC. His love for street club culture and all the things it continues to do for the world continues to drive him to find ways in which he can help enrich the community through music, feeling, and dance!

TapCo

TAP COMPANY • AGES 9+

TapCo is a pre-professional tap company within the School at Peridance aimed towards the Intermediate to Advanced Tap dancer ages 9-17 years. This company is for those students who have a passion for and are inspired by all things TAP! Accepted students are required to take a technique class within The School at Peridance as well as attend weekly company rehearsals for multiple performance opportunities within the KnJ Theater at Peridance Center as well as other potential venues throughout NYC.

Participation in TapCo is by audition only. Mission: TapCo's mission is to provide a focused environment in which students, while being encouraged to pursue their own individual passions for Tap, also learn to work together as a team while acquiring a deeper knowledge of Tap history. About: TapCo was founded in 2015 under the direction of Karin Rendelman. TapCo is for students ages 9+. TapCo dancers are required to take a Tap technique class in the School at Peridance, as well as rehearsing choreography together during weekly rehearsals. TapCo will have multiple performance opportunities in the KnJ Theater at Peridance Center, as well as other venues throughout NYC. Being part of TapCo is a year-long commitment, and all company members must take the required technique class and attend weekly rehearsals. Training: TapCo company members are accepted by audition only. They must take at least one Tap technique class in the School at Peridance, with placement specified by Ms. Rendelman and the School Director. Technique classes are vital to a successful company experience. Performing: In addition to weekly technique classes and rehearsals, company members will learn choreography created by Ms. Karin Rendelman, an established Tap teacher with over 24 years experience in the dance teaching/performing/competition industry. Company members have the opportunity to perform in various shows and performances throughout the year. About Karin Rendelman - Director of TapCo Karin, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., is a working choreographer and teacher residing in New York City. Graduating Cum Laud from Florida International University, Miami Florida, she earned a BA in Dance. Her infectious energy and her passion for dance were seasoned while she mentored under Broadway tap dancer, Jimmy Tate. Karin has been teaching for over 24 years and during this time, was honored to become the Director of the Dance Department at the nationally renowned Weiss School. She has also directed a youth tap company in South Florida where her students performed locally for community events/fundraisers and her choreography was recognized with numerous awards at a variety of competitions on both regional and national levels. Currently, Karin continues to teach master classes and create choreography for students all over the country and abroad as well as teaching on the convention/intensive circuit and is ecstatic to be beginning her 13th year on faculty at Peridance Capezio Center (NYC) where she is the Director of SynKopate – AN NYC Tap Project & SynKopate II - the first Peridance youth Tap companies. Karin's passion for her art and the technique that supports it, for rhythm and energy and the combination of it all, can be seen in each and every class she teaches as well as in her ambitious and expressive choreography!
