BIOGRAPHY

Hayden J Frederick (they/them) is a Trans Non-binary choreographer, dancer, and educator based out of Los Angeles. Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, they have lived in New York City for the last decade and have been a force in the arts community. They are an ever-evolving creator whose mission is to strengthen human connection using dance as a medium to heal and initiate change. <[> Since moving to New York, Hayden has been fortunate enough to expand their dance knowledge through a variety of prestigious programs including Broadway Dance Center’s Intern Scholarship Program (now the Professional Semester), Luam’s “Rock the Industry,” and Calen Kurka and Chris Hale’s “Pushing Progress.” Additionally, Hayden has spent time assisting and training under some of the industry's greatest.
As a choreographer, Hayden most recently had the privilege of working with Monika Felice Smith choreographing and co- choreographing for Angel Olsen’s album film “Big Time” directed by Kimberly Stuckwisch. They have recently worked with incredible artists Sharon Van Etten and Griffin Matthews choreographing and dancing in music videos. Their work has been presented in countless festivals and showcases on reputable stages all over New York City at venues such as the Highline Ballroom, Symphony Space, the Salvatore Peridance Capezio Theatre, and Manhattan Movement and Arts Center. They have featured work in the 2016 and 2017 Pushing Progress Showcase Series, Jared Grimes "Run the Night", Sybarite "Love is Love", Jennifer Muller's "Hatch" Series, and Shelly Hutchinson's "Giving Tree” and “New York Moves” benefits. They were also the featured Opening Number choreographer at the PULSE on Tour’s 2017 Final Gala in Las Vegas.

Hayden has been a full-time faculty member at Broadway Dance Center, teaching weekly open classes, as well as BDC’s Children and Teen Program. They are currently full-time faculty at Millennium Dance Complex Los Angeles and T Milly Studios. Hayden is a nationally and internationally recognized instructor and educator. Most recently, they spent time in Israel at Nadine Bommer Animato Dance Theater in Rishon Le Zion, the 2017 Movement Dance Festival in Eilat, and MOVE(MEANT) JOURNEY in Krakow, Poland. They were also recently featured in Dance Spirit Magazine in an article entitled "8 Phenomenal Trans and GNC Dancers to Follow" and The New York Times article “Sequins and Soul-Searching…”

Hayden hopes to be a voice for change in the dance industry. Equity, diversity, and inclusion are at the forefront of their work. They view dance and movement as a medium for change, stories, and healing. They hope to empower all bodies and humans to take up space in the world. They believe that dance and the arts can continue to push us towards the future and towards the revolution!

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Hayden hopes to provide a safe and accessible space for all bodies to come together through connection and community. They view dance and movement as a medium for healing, change, and storytelling. Hayden hopes to be a voice for change in the dance industry. Equity, diversity, and inclusion are at the forefront of their work. They believe that dance and the arts can continue to push us towards liberation and towards the revolution!
