BIOGRAPHY

Emily Greenwell is an educator, choreographer, dancer, and certified yoga instructor based in New York City. Born and raised near Detroit, Michigan, Emily has been creatively inclined her whole life. Emily loves to teach and greatly values education, and considers herself a student of life. She has been fortunate to travel the world to share her talents; journeying across the US as well as Europe, South America, and Asia, setting choreography, teaching workshops, and giving master classes. Emily is currently faculty at Broadway Dance Center, Peridance Center, and Intrigue Dance Convention to name a few.

As the founder and artistic director of non-profit arts collective, CLOUDE.NYC, Emily is an advocate for the arts community. Based in New York, her collective creates work through several mediums including dance, video, stage, and photo. They host monthly community-centered improv events, annual workshops, and collaborate on project-based performances.

Emily’s dance credits include Phish live at Madison Square Garden, Marian Hill, “Want You” Music Video, “Aida” at the Muny Theater, and Todrick Hall’s “Oz The Musical.” To name a few. Choreography credits include DanceOn’s Every Single Step produced by Brian Friedman and Nigel Lythgoe, the Capezio ACE Awards, Arte Creative, Wise Fruit, The Giving Tree, and more.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Emily’s approach to teaching focuses on you as an individual. Through her versatile experiences in all aspects of the dance industry, she has developed a love for guiding students through practices that encourage creative development. Her goal is for you to grow as an artist while being given the tools to thrive in a professional dance setting. Her classes encompass a yoga based warm up, improvisation exercises geared towards opening the senses and connecting the body and mind, and musicality based choreography where there is room to be both precise and make your own artistic choices. Emily’s playful approach to teaching fosters creativity, self love, presence, and communicative skills. No matter whether your goal is to dance professionally, choreograph your own work, or move for fun, there is so much to benefit from in her class.
