BIOGRAPHY
Bivi Kimura studied in France with such luminaries as Rosella Hightower, Arlette Castanier, Jose Ferran. She’s very fortunate to have also studied and worked with Rita Thalia, Philippe Cohen, Ian Nuyts, Victor Rona, Serge Golovin, Alexandre Kalioujny, Claudie Winzer, Monet Robier, Joelle Mazet, Hans Brenaa, Christine Anthony, Piotre Nardelli, David Howard. In her professional career, Bivi danced with 20th Century Ballet, Maurice Bejart / Belgium and Switzerland, Jeunne Ballet de France / Paris and also as an invited guest in Japan and Europe. She was a Finalist at the Prix de Lausanne and received a Silver & Bronze prize at the Tokyo Ballet Competition, Junior Division.
Bivi is a company teacher at Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo and has been a faculty member and ballet mistress at French Acedemie of Ballet under her long time director François Perron. Her professional teaching career also includes being on faculty at Logrea Dance Academy, Manhattan Youth Ballet, The Academy of Ballet Etudes, NJ Dance Theatre Ensemble, and Grand Ballet de Geneve. In addition, she has taught Peridance, Ballet Arts, Alvin Ailey School, Ballet Hispanico School, the school of Steps, Irina and Maxim Summer Intensives and guest teaching many other school and companies. Bivi earned the “Diplome d’Etat de danse Classique” teacher’s diploma in France and she is an ABT Certified Teacher, Primary through Level 7 and Partnering of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. Bivi is also certified with multi awarded MUNZ BARRE® created by a format Etoile dancer Alexandre Munz. She is the very first coach in New York.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
Bivi’s class is taken from the French schools. Her class approach is pure and precise, with emphasis on correct placement of the body, use of arms and épaulement, instructions on the mechanics necessary for movements, and the importance of utilizing musical phrasing. Bivi uses these basic elements to assist in developing a solid foundation bu build strong ballet technique to flourish artistry and take them to the next level. Her positive and joyful approach will keep dancers inspired and motivated!
