BIOGRAPHY

Alison Cook-Beatty received her BFA in Dance from the Boston Conservatory of Music at Berklee, receiving the Ruth Sandholm Ambrose Scholarship Award. She has performed with Paul Taylor’s American Modern Dance Company, Taylor 2, and her choreography has been commissioned by companies including Ballet Next, Columbia Ballet Collaborative, Opera Dolce, Carolina Ballet Theater, Infinity Dance Theater, The Joffrey Ballet School, and The Boston Conservatory. Alison has taught with Taylor 2 internationally and nationally, she has been on the faculty year round at The Joffrey Ballet School in the Contemporary, Classical, Young Children's, and Adult Programs. She has taught at Battery Dance, PMT Dance Studio, and various schools in NYC, CT, and NJ. Alison Cook Beatty Dance holds masterclasses on tour and for the community year- round in NYC. In 2012, Ms. Cook-Beatty founded Alison Cook Beatty Dance. The modern dance Company has the dual mission of creating original, meaningful dance and providing the public with direct access to community-centric art. Alison Cook Beatty Dance has performed throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, California, Vermont, Washington D.C. The company has performed at the Salvatore Capezio Theater at Peridance, New York Live Arts, Ailey Citigroup Theater, DUMBO Dance Festival, Dixon Place, Joe’s Pub, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the 92nd Street Y, NYU Frederick Loewe Theater, The Riverside Theatre, The Martha Graham Studio Theater, The 14th Street Y, Battery Dance Festival, Hunter College, Gibney Dance: Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center, City Center Studios, GK Arts Center, Manhattan Movement & Arts Center, Ballet Hispanico, and the Making Moves Dance Festival (JCAL). In addition to the company’s New York-based performances, it has also toured and performed at The National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C., San Jose State University in CA, Harvard Arts First Festival in Massachusetts, and AS220 in Rhode Island. In Vermont, the Company has performed and taught at the Putney School, St. Johnsbury Academy, and the Southern Vermont Dance Festival. Altar’d Spaces at Arts & Ideas Festival, the Palace Theater, the Hartt School, and the Milford Fine Arts Center in Connecticut. The Company’s first performance was in New Jersey at MishMash201, and we will be going back to Jersey City to perform at Nimbus Dance Theater 2018! Alison received the 2013 sjDANCEco Award for Artistic Merit & Best Choreography and the 2014 Caroline H. Newhouse Scholarship Award. In 2018 she was selected for DEVICES 4, a mentorship program led by choreographer Doug Varone and most recently the Barcelona International Dance Exchange (BIDE).
