Ami Shulman
Contemporary
Biography:
Ami Shulman was born and raised in South Africa, and has been based in Montreal since 2001. She graduated in the Performing Arts (Honors) in 1997 and has since worked prolifically in diverse aspects of theatre: from performance to set, costume and lighting design. She has danced with numerous highly regarded choreographers - most notably Gregory Maqoma, Jose Navas and Marie Chouinard. She is currently working in collaboration with musician and videographer Joseph Rovan. Ami teaches contemporary technique and has taught at the Juilliard School (New York, USA) ; the Rotterdam Danse Academy (Rotterdam, Netherlands) ; Brown University (Providence, USA) ; the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg, South Africa) ; Concordia University (Montreal, Canada) and is a regular teacher at the Springboard Project (Montreal). Ami works as a rehearsal director for several dance companies/artists most notably for Compagnie Marie Chouinard, Jose Navas and Compagnie Flak. Performer, educator and rehearsal director - Ami Shulman continues to tour extensively internationally in the various aspects of her expertise in dance.
