Arcell Debuag is the Associate Artistic Director and
Senior Dancer of the Ronald K. Brown EVIDENCE Dance
Company, and a recipient of the 2004 New York Dance
and Performance “BESSIE” Awards. Originally from the Bay
Area of California, where he received his training at the
Abraham Lincoln Performing Arts Magnet School. In 1996,
Arcell attended the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center
where he was first introduced to Ronald K. Brown. His
professional experience prior includes: Rock the House for
Paramount Pictures in California, The Shoji Tabuchi Show
and Christmas Spectacular in Branson, Missouri, and
numerous musicals including playing the role of Tommy
Dijilas in The Music Man at San Jose Musical Theater,
Oklahoma at Theater Under The Stars, and the Richard
Rodgers Centennial Production of The King and I at the
Papermill Playhouse. Arcell can be seen in the episode
“Choreographed” on Law and Order SVU, and a "Codorinu"
commercial with PILOBOLUS shot and aired in Barcelona.
Arcell serves the dance community as an Adjunct
Professor at Long Island University (Brooklyn Campus),
resident teacher at Brooklyn’s Dance Wave, and as a
master class instructor for EVIDENCE at Peridance and
Universities and venues abroad while on tour with
EVIDENCE. He has assisted Ronald K. Brown in setting
work on Philadanco, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance
Ensemble, MUNTU Dance Theater of Chicago, The San
Francisco NICK CAVE Project, Ballet Hispanico, the Alvin
Ailey American Dance Theater, and is the Assistant
Choreographer for the Broadway production of Porgy and
Bess starring Audra McDonald. Arcell has been touring
with Evidence since 1997 and has originated roles in over
13 works in the EVIDENCE repertory.
