Katherine Nauman is a Horton technique instructor,
performer and arts administrator. During her 12 years in San
Francisco she taught at: UC Berkeley, SF State University,
CSU Summer Arts, Alonzo King LINES Dance Center, and
Shawl-Anderson Dance Center. Katherine is currently an
adjunct assistant professor for LINES Ballet/BFA at
Dominican University, serves on faculty for the LINES Ballet
Summer program, and is a guest teacher for the the El
Cerrito HS Dance Program. She worked as Rehearsal and
Engagement Director for AXIS Dance Company, was
Director of the Alonzo King LINES Dance Center, and a
founding member and General Manager for SOULSKIN
Dance. In the Bay Area she has performed with Ray Tadio,
SOULSKIN Dance and Mary Carbonara Dances. Prior to
living in CA, Katherine trained, performed and taught in
New York City. She was teaching and choreographic
assistant to Horton master teachers Milton Myers and
JoLea Maffei, and taught at Juilliard, LaGuardia High
School, The Ailey School and STEPS, among others.
Katherine has toured internationally as both Horton teacher
and performer at festivals such as: Jacob's Pillow (MA),
Internationale Tanz-Wochen Wien (Austria), Vortex Jazz
Congress (Moscow, Russia) and Summer Arts at California
State University Monterey Bay. In NYC she danced for
companies including: Stanley Love Performance Group,
bopi's black sheep/dances by kraig patterson, Maffei Dance
Company, Glen Rumsey Dance Project and Makram Hamdan
Dance Company. Katherine is a graduate of the Ailey
School, NYC.
