Sabrina Phillip
Contemporary Jazz
Biography:
Sabrina is originally from Calgary, Canada. She trained intensively in Ballet, Jazz and Modern dance in her early studies and went on to work at the international level in London, England. She taught Master classes at The Pineapple, Danceworks and The Urdang Academy and toured with Virgin Records recording artist Annie. Sabrina has worked as a teacher and choreographer at countless dance studios around the US and Canada. Her BSc. degree in Exercise and Health Physiology provides her with a special understanding of the human body and the mechanics of movement. As a teacher, her intention is to challenge dancers; focusing on placement, correct technique, strength and agility. As a respected choreographer, Sabrina has trained pop singers, celebrity actors, and even Hollywood starlets! She travels the globe to teach young students and professionals alike. She has performed with dance companies including Sera Danza, S.H.E. and Unity Dance Ensemble, directed by Tessandra Chavez. Sabrina appears in commercials for Hip Hop Abs, Dex/Dexknows.com and Corvel. She recently choreographed for Jete directed by Tiffany Billings as well as My Fair Wedding with David Tutera. Her music video credits include choreography for “Sunshine Day” by Mac of Partridge Family fame and the stunning video for Jenna Bryson’s “Clear”.
Class Description:
Class begins with a warm-up, focusing on strength, technique and flexibility. The choreography portion of class generally includes phrasing with floorwork and here we work on agility, musicality and fluidity through the phrasing. My goal is to cultivate strong, fearless dancers.
