N'tifafa Akoko Tete-Rosenthal
West African
Biography:
From Togo, West Africa, and raised in the United States,
N’tifafa Akoko began
her formal dance training in Flint, Michigan through a youth
inner-city ballet company
named The Company. She continued her training with the
Young People’s Ballet
Theater, leading to an opportunity to tour Europe twice with
the Blue Lake Fine Arts
Dance Ensemble.
Ntifafa attended Grand Valley State University in Michigan
receiving her
Bachelors of Arts in Dance. Post graduation she enrolled as
an independent study student
at the Alvin Ailey School of Dance, where she studied dance
with Milton Myers, Ann
Marie Forsythe, and Maguette Camara along with various
other instructors.
She now performs as an independent artist with Maimouna
Keita Dance
Company, Fusha Dance, and Les Enfants du Soleil amongst a
few companies while
pursuing a Masters in Fine Arts from Sarah Lawrence
College.
