Clarisse Roud
Contemporary
Biography:
Clarisse Roud, is originally from Switzerland. She is a
performer, dance teacher and choreographer based in
between London and New York. She focused her
training on modern techniques : contracting and
releasing within the Martha Graham School of
Contemporary Dance, falling and recovering within the
Limón Institute where she saw herself designated to
perform There is a Time for War as a Soloist. Since
2015, Clarisse has been working closely with the De
Funes Dance Company, performing with as an
Ensemble dancer and assisting Diego Funes across
Europe. Clarisse is excited to return in New York to
create a new work for the Youth ensemble of
Peridance.
Class Description:
Clarisse ROUD delivers a contemporary classes
combining both technical and creative aspects directly
influenced by her performer’s and choreographer’s
career. Students are guided to find their own unique
way of moving supported by improvisation, technical
warm up exercises and expressive routine materials.
Students explore and experience their physicality
through principles such as weight and breath while
playing with the concept of dynamics into movement
in relation to music.
Clarisse’s commitment is to share a humanistic
approach to movement using supportive
encouragements to give her students a sense of
freedom and challenge as well as offering a safe place
to experience movement in an emotional, passionate
and energetic way.
